Finding work experience

What type of work experience?

Before you start searching for work experience, it is worth considering the following:

  • What job role or sector/s interest you? If you are unsure, we can help you explore your options.
  • How long would you like the experience to last? For example, are you seeking a year-long position, summer, a few weeks or just a few days?
  • Where geographically you would prefer the experience to be? For example, do you want to spend your time in Leeds, London, or even overseas?
  • Your finances - does the experience need to be paid or could you consider some unpaid experience if necessary?

Finding vacancies

Work experience opportunities will be advertised in a range of places, depending on the type of experience you are seeking. Many employers seeking graduates also advertise work experience opportunities in the same places - check out our pages on finding a job.

We advertise a range of work experience, internships and placement opportunities throughout the UK and further afield on our vacancy database.

Careers fairs, employer presentations and events are also great ways of learning about opportunities. Check out the latest on-campus events on our events database.
