Communications and PR Assistant

"The placement was a brilliant experience which opened my eyes to the real working world, and one that I would definitely recommend!"

Bethan Rainford

BSc (Hons) Psychology
Vauxhall Motors, Communications and PR Assistant

I undertook a year's industrial placement at Vauhall Motors, working within the PR and Communications Department. The Central objective to my role was to promote and maintain General Motors Manufacturing Ellesmere Port reputation, to its key internal and external stakeholders.  This was facilitated through a variety of responsibilities including; internal newsletter publications, press release writing, arranging employee engagement events and many more!  I learnt and developed upon so many transferable skills and recognised my long term career goals.  I now feel significantly more prepared to graduate next year.

Throughout the year there was great deal of support and contact with the University, in particular my placement tutor.  The monthly logs meant that my placement tutor was up to date and informed about what was going on and the feedback received from these was always helpful and encouraging.  During the year my placement tutor visited me at work, this was a great chance for her to see first-hand everything I had been talking about in my monthly logs. It also provided my manager with the opportunity to give my tutor feedback on my performance.

The placement was a brilliant experience which opened my eyes to the real working world, and one that I would definitely recommend!
