Yorkshire and Humberside top place for graduate recruitment within smaller businesses
Published: Friday, 03 January 2014
In a recent survey of smaller organisations looking to recruit graduates a quarter of them had head offices in Yorkshire and Humberside.
In addition to this 45% of small and medium businesses surveyed had taken on at least one graduate a year, representing a 20% growth in graduate recruitment within these organisations since 2010. This is in comparison to very little growth in the overall graduate job market, over the same period.
More small and medium businesses are offering work experience opportunities and see this as the most effective method for graduate recruitment.
When asked about reasons for recruiting graduates most small and medium business directors indicated that they were looking to fill specific roles within the company. However, an increasing number (20%) were looking to employ graduates as potential future managers and to bring fresh ideas to the company.
