This event is only open to students in level 2.
 
This event will be held in rooms 1.33 and 1.34.

Global Careers Week - Visas & Brexit: A Presentation by Fragomen Worldwide

Laurence Keir-Thomas, Senior Associate - Solicitor at Fragomen, a global immigration firm, based in Sheffield, London and worldwide will be coming to speak to UG and PG students across the Business School.

The session will include:

- How can European students register to stay and/or work in the UK after graduation?
- What are the options available under the settled status scheme?
- Case studies on different scenarios, including residence requirements in the UK and family members
- What are the options available to UK students to stay/work in Europe after graduation?

Now is a good time to start planning so that you understand what you might need to prepare to make an application under the scheme in the UK and what the considerations might be if you wish to live/work in Europe.

This session forms part of the Business School's Global Careers Week programme. Global Careers Week is a week-long series of innovative and engaging events across a wide-range of internationally flavoured themes, including expert talks on; BREXIT and its implications for international students and interactive workshops on graduate employment for international students by the founders of the award-winning graduate recruitment site; Gradlink. Throughout the week there will be a mixture of formal presentations, workshops, networking events, webinars, and advice and guidance sessions for LUBS students across the faculty.

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of the global marketplace and to stake your place in it! Take the lead this semester by actively developing yourself by becoming career-ready.

Global Careers Week - Cultural Misconceptions in the Workforce

Hosted by Intercultural Ambassadors, the purpose of this talk is to enlighten people about the common misconceptions often faced by people that work in an intercultural organisation.

In our event, we will:

  • Compare and contrast common misconceptions seen in different countries.
  • Establish the ethics and norms to adopt for practical use

The timing of this talk ties in well with students looking for job opportunities in the summer.

Global Careers Week - Ward Hadaway Visa Advice Session

The Tier 2 General visa is the most commonly used UK work visa and requires sponsorship from an employer.  The session will go in to more detail about this visa type and eligibility criteria for the student and the employer.  At the end of the session there will be the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session.

This session will provide an overview of the different types of visas available for international students who wish to remain in the UK after completion of their courses.
