Inside Law (Commercial)

Date: 06 March 2018
Time: 17:00

Booking and Further Information

The aim of the event is to provide you with more information on what it is like to work as a solicitor within commercial law. There will be a panel of 5-6 speakers who will talk about what it is like to work in commercial law and also specifically in the areas of commercial law they practise. They will also talk about their career journey and what you need to do when to be successful in the recruitment process. We are planning to invite speakers from different types of firms (national, regional, local and niche) if possible. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session, and a networking buffet afterwards will give you an opportunity to talk to the speakers one-to-one.

The speakers will include:
- Shaukat Ali, Partner, Walker Morris (Competition Law)
- James Barron, Solicitor, Langleys (Employment)
- Rebecca Dilks, Trainee Solicitor, Gateley Plc
- Robert Farrell, Senior Associate, Irwin Mitchell (Banking)
- Victoria Goddard, Partner, Pinsent Masons (Property Development)
- Eleanor Stenson, Associate, Shulmans (Dispute Resolution)

Organised by the School of Law but students from all years and programmes are welcome. The event will take place in the Liberty Building, LG.06.

Feedback from previous years: "This event helped me to understand what a commercial solicitor actually gets involved with on a daily basis. I learnt of their career paths as well as their motivations for a career in law. This was a brilliant opportunity for me to speak to those who work in practice one-on-one, and to ask the questions that I could not have got answered elsewhere."

Only available for University of Leeds students and recent graduates.
