Career Mentoring schemes

We’re thinking carefully about the implications of the Coronavirus pandemic in the context of mentoring schemes this year. The safety of our mentees and mentors remain our priority, which is why all mentoring activity will continue to take place virtually throughout academic year 2020/21.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us: mentoring@leeds.ac.uk

We have a range of mentoring schemes, from full year to short online schemes:

Alumni Leadership Mentoring Programme - inspiring success (runs October - June): for students who would like to benefit from being matched with one of our expert alumni. This programme enhances their leadership, networking and communication skills in a professional developmental environment. Mentees receive expert advice to help maximise their final year at university, along with insights into their sector of interest.

Apply in your penultimate year for a mentor during your final year of study, and be motivated and empowered to succeed as a leader in your chosen field.

  • Applications for academic year 2021/22 are now closed.

eMentoring: an 8 week, online eMentoring programme (runs twice each year from October-November, and March - April): to connect students with professional Leeds Alumni who have fantastic experience and knowledge of various professions and industries.

Take the opportunity to take the lead role in improving your employability prospects. Sign up to be connected with a professional who is working in your area of interest for ‘real world’ advice, guidance and practical information. You will receive their support and guidance to develop application and interview skills and get to know more about what a certain job might involve. The eMentoring scheme is open to all undergraduate students at Leeds.

  • Applications 2021/22 will open in September.

PwC Female Mentoring Scheme (runs January - June): designed for female students on the Plus Programme who would like to connect with female staff based at PwC’s offices in Leeds city centre. Mentees will receive coaching and advice about the skills required to make them employable, along with insight into the transition from academia into industry and beyond.

  • Applications for 2021/22 will open in September.

PwC Diversity Mentoring Scheme (runs December - June): mentees will benefit from the experience of being mentored by a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic professional from PwC. Mentors support their mentees to develop confidence in job searching, applications and interview strategies. Applications are welcome from any student who identifies as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic.

  • Applications for 2021/22 will open in September.

Please note: none of our mentoring schemes are work experience/internship, nor are they intended to lead to an offer of employment with the Mentor/Mentor's employer. Do not apply to any of the above schemes if you will be participating in another mentoring scheme at the same time.
